Your EnvironmentBody Art, Salons & Spas

Businesses that offer haircuts, manicures, facials, hair removal, ear or body piercings, and tattoos are known as personal service settings.

Personal services can pose a risk of blood-borne, bacterial, and fungal infections for clients and staff because there is a risk of exposure to blood or body fluids. Improper infection prevention and control techniques could result in illness or infections. Remember that you may not be able to see contamination like blood or bodily fluids that can cause illness or disease.

Public Health Inspectors make sure that personal service settings are safe by:

  1. Conducting regular inspections to make sure they comply with regulations.
  2. Investigating complaints and cases of illness or infection.
  3. Educating personal service workers on infection prevention and control (IPAC) practices.
